Dear Parents,
I hope you enjoyed a relaxing break during half term. It has been great to see the children back on site and buzzing with excitement for the last few weeks of this academic year – we have much to look forward to!
We will celebrate another Wellbeing Day next Friday 21st June. Representatives from our charity partner, The Lucy Rayner Foundation, are visiting us to talk about wellbeing and pupils will be taking part in a Fundraiser Walk (1000 miles!) with all proceeds going to the charity. The rest of the day will include team-building games and a whole-school BBQ for lunch. The pupils can also come to school in their own clothes.
Many pupils have enjoyed a variety of trips so far this half term. Year 5 dressed the part on their recent evacuee day in Brighton to celebrate D-Day, and Year 6 got to grips with a range of outdoor activities as part of their residential to Norfolk. Year 8 enjoyed a visit to the Imperial War Museum and are excited about their trip to Barcelona next week.
Well done to all our Year 8 pupils for completing their exams last week; it is a time of the year which gives a wonderful opportunity for the Year 8 pupils to demonstrate the incredible progress they have made across the rigours of our curriculum. In keeping with tradition, an ice-cream van came to deliver a post-exam treat to all our Year 8 pupils - we are very proud of all your hard work!
I am also proud to announce some great sporting success – particularly some amazing swimming results which were achieved in the swimming IAPS National Finals last weekend. Congratulations to all those pupils who took part and delivered some remarkable performances!
Finally, another huge thank you to the HPA who organised the summer fair last weekend. As usual, it was a fantastic event which allowed the Hazelwood community to come together and enjoy a sociable and entertaining afternoon for all.
Best wishes for a wonderful weekend.
Lindie
