The Nutshell w/e 15th November 2024

Dear Parents,

The site is bustling with excitement this afternoon, following the staff charity netball match during break time. It was such a brilliant event to support Children in Need! This, coupled with our support for Anti-Bullying Day on Tuesday has really helped us focus our minds on the importance of being people-centred.

Our Year 8 pupils have been sitting their mock Common Entrance exams in the core subjects this week. They have shown a superb attitude, approaching their exams with maturity and confidence, using our new Upper School Learning Centre to revise and work collaboratively to prepare for them.

We are proud of our Under 13 boys, who won their final football match of the season against Holmewood House. This completed their unbeaten record for Wednesday fixtures - well done boys for your determination and great teamwork! It is now the start of the rugby season and our Year 7 and 8 boys have been enjoying rugby club with our new Sports Consultant, Chris Robshaw. They have been working on tackle technique and ruck speed as they gear up for the season with great excitement.

We hosted our first chess tournament at Hazelwood this week! Our Years 5 – 8 Chess Team took on Solefield School and each player competed in at least two games, showcasing their strategic skills and fantastic sportsmanship. Congratulations to everyone who took part.

Looking ahead, please save the date for our very popular HPA Christmas Fair on Saturday, 30th November, from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Anyone interested in booking a stall should contact Katrina Butler at [email protected]. There will be a festive array of stalls and entertainment to enjoy, so please do join us.

Finally, we are very excited to be holding our whole school open morning next Friday 22nd November. It is always a proud occasion, sharing our wonderful school with prospective parents and giving them a glimpse into a typical school day.
