The Nutshell

Dear Parents,

It has been glorious to finally enjoy some lovely warm weather recently; we have all been able to enjoy our amazing outdoor spaces even more than usual.

Last Friday, we held our Summer term Wellbeing Day. The sun was shining as pupils arrived at school dressed in their own clothes. Our charity partner, The Lucy Rayner Foundation, delivered a powerful workshop on how children can take care of their emotional and physical wellbeing, and this was followed by an afternoon of fun outdoor activities and a delicious BBQ lunch. The day was a wonderful way to celebrate the importance of our wellbeing - something we consider vitally important to nurture in all parts of our School community.

Year 8 enjoyed a fantastic trip to Barcelona last week as part of their leavers' programme - some of the highlights included a visit to a water park, a trip to Sagrada Familia designed by Gaudi, as well as lots of fun on the beach in the evenings.

Grandparents’ Morning was a huge success yesterday and we were thrilled to receive so many lovely emails from families telling us how much the morning was enjoyed by grandparents. It was a pleasure to open our doors and invite so many family members in to share in School life. Pupils were proud to show their grandparents around their classrooms and our wonderful facilities before enjoying a musical performance in the Bawtree Hall. This evening, we look forward to the Summer Concert and I look forward to seeing many of you there to enjoy what will undoubtedly be a splendid evening.

In other news, we are extremely proud to have been nominated as a Finalist in the Muddy Stilettoes Best Schools 2024 Awards for Best Experiential Learning Experience in a Prep School. They received more entries than ever before and we are proud to have been recognised by the prestigious panel of judges and stand shoulder-to-shoulder against some of the best prep schools in the country.

Coming up in our final week, we have Prize Giving, Sports Day and Leavers' events to savour and we hope all pupils and parents enjoy this fantastic end to the term - especially those who will be leaving us for the next stage in their education; we wish them all the best.

There are lots of exciting changes happening over the summer months and I look forward to seeing you back at Hazelwood on Wednesday 4th September, when we will be also welcoming our new Reception pupils on to our main site.

Best wishes for a restful and enjoyable summer with your families,

Lindie
