The Nutshell

Dear Parents,

What a busy end of the term it has been. Despite the cold weather, the children have been enjoying a wide range of learning opportunities, and we have so much to celebrate within our school community.

I am incredibly proud of two of our Year 7 & 8 Destination Imagination teams who earned 1st place at last Saturday’s qualifying event in Egham and have now qualified for the Global Finals! Our Engineering Team and our Service-Learning Challenge Team both showcased their creativity, problem-solving and teamwork to earn their place among the top teams worldwide; schools had travelled as far as Turkey to compete. It gives me huge pride to see our School focus on real-word-relevant learning and being recognised and rewarded at such a highly competitive, international event. We are exploring the possibility of attending the Global Finals in Kansas City, but just qualifying for this stage is an incredible achievement!

The Hazelwood Swim Squad has been making waves with some fantastic performances from our U10-U13 IAPS swimmers. A significant milestone for Hazelwood was the debut of our first-ever boys’ gymnastics team competing for the first time; the boys performed with confidence and precision, earning the highest ranking of all boys' teams in the competition! Well done everyone!

We are preparing for the Kerslake Robshaw Foundation Charity Concert on Friday 14th March and it promises to be a spectacular evening of music. We are incredibly fortunate that Camilla Kerslake will be performing and Chris Robshaw will be talking about their amazing charity, which supports young people to access musical and sporting experiences, no matter their background. Tickets will be on sale soon and we hope to see you there!

Have a wonderful half-term break and we look forward to seeing you back at school on Monday 24th February.

Best wishes,

Lindie
